Key Stage 2
In Key Stage Two the curriculum continues to be taught creatively through topics, with each topic lasting for half a term. In Summer 2 the whole Key Stage study one topic together on a rolling programme to include a local area study and International sporting events.
In Key Stage Two children will be taught literacy skills through the creative curriculum and have opportunity to build on these skills and apply them within Big Write sessions. A variety of texts and genres are used to stimulate ideas for writing and model clear grammatical structures.
Spelling continues to be taught discretely via daily spelling sessions. Both Year 3 and Year 4 follow the ‘No Nonsense Spelling’ approach and use many strategies including repetition, dictation and missing letter games.
